Google has affirmed that they ran a "wide center calculation refresh" a week ago that has affected the appearance and rankings of a few sites in the indexed lists.
Google posted on Twitter that Google does these sorts of updates "a few times each year" and there is nothing a site can do particularly to "settle" their positioning after the center refresh runs. "A few locales may note drops or picks up," Google clarified and said if a page drops, it doesn't really mean there is a major issue with that page, it is exactly how Google changed their positioning models that now benefits "pages that were beforehand under-compensated."
